In tree care, caliper refers to the diameter of a young tree's trunk, measured at 6-inches above the ground. Height is used to measure evergreen and multi-trunk trees instead of caliper. This measurement refers to the total height of the tree from the ground to the highest point. These measurements help determine the tree's size for planting and transplanting purposes.
